Cooking through the Cookbooks
My summer project was cleaning out and organizing the garage. As most of you know, the garage is a treasure trove of forgotten artifacts. The treasure I found? My box of cookbooks that has moved with me from house to house, each time gaining one or two new admissions. After an internal debate with myself over the merits of keeping these relics – mostly due to the fact that when I want to try a new recipe these days, I head straight to Google – I decided to embark on a culinary journey through these cookbooks. I’ve been bored with my cooking lately anyway and felt like this was just the creative adventure I was looking for!
Return to Sunday Dinner, by Russell Cronkite
Dinner one. It’s a lovely day in September. The sky is clear and there is a light breeze, and I’ve decided I should stay inside all day and embark on this massive cooking task. Little did I realize by choosing this as my first cookbook, I would spend the entirety of my day cooking. I guess the hint was in the title – Ha!
My family was not hip to my new blog idea and I’m new to this too, so this post does not have wonderful photos. But worry not, there will be better photos as this journey continues!
Pot Roast, mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli, glazed carrots, cloverleaf rolls
Takeaways
Worcestershire gravy is amazing! Cloverleaf rolls are fancy looking, but not difficult. All mashed potatoes should include chives and garlic. These glazed carrots were delightful!
